What is Patina, and What Does it Have
to Do With Metal Wall Tiles?
Patina is the result of an oxidation reaction
occurring between the metal and the oxygen in the air. This reaction
results in a protective and distinctive finish on the surface
of the metal wall tile. Patina is a sought after effect, and is
usually offered at a premium. Various types of metal tiles produce
different colors of patina. For example, bronze produces a luminous
brown color that gradually displays a warmer shade over time.
If moisture is in the air, patina can change further. Bronze tiles
develop a green tint in presence of humidity.
